  Rolling hills, winding back roads, views of Long Island and springtime! are the chief attractions at the Bloomin’ Metric bike tour, owned and operated by Sound Cyclists of Connecticut (http://www.soundcyclists.com/BloominMetric.htm). Distances are 25 mi., 75 km (46.5 mi.) or 100 km (62 mi.). For the second year, the Bloomin' Metric is capping registration and was at 40 percent of the cap by the end of February. Riders who plan to participate should register soon. Christine Bisceglie is happy to meet riders at the Westport train station and shepherd them to the new starting location, Sherwood Island State Park; the 7:07 a.m. from Grand Central will get you there in time and you will need a Metro North bike pass. There’s a picnic with live music after the ride, and registration fees climb in early May. Early info is that at least a half-dozen Fast and Fab riders are going.   Cyclists hardy of spirit, early of rising and tolerant of repeated vistas of verdant greenery and bulging spandex meet at 7 a.m. at the Columbus Circle entrance to Central Park, between the Ferrara coffee stand and the statue of the Maine. We do two to three conversational laps, depending on the crowd, that can be relaxed or competitive, depending on the mood. Bob Nelson can easily be persuaded to look at your position on the bike and offer tips on bike fit and climbing. When sizing, you’d best choose one that’s one size larger than you normally get, they are sized smaller than normal. Of course you can always arrange to try it on first before buying.
