    * Pride RidePride Ride

    Our sister club, OutCycling, is pulling together the fifth annual Pride Ride, with distances of 30, 65 and 100 miles heading up the west side of the Hudson, with rest stops aplenty and lunch at Rockland Lake State Park. The routes are similar to those the New York Cycle Club does on the Escape New York ride in the fall; they are loops of Bergen and Rockland counties; we keep to back roads and the hills are too numerous to count. This is the only big organized LGBT ride in New York, so go to http://www.nycprideride.org/register/ and enter!! Riders at every distance meet in the field adjacent to the Hudson River Bike Path (lower level) nearest to 145th St. and Riverbank State Park. Departure times are staggered and the longer distances leave first; check nycprideride.org for details. Questions? Bob Nelson, fastnfab (at) gmail (dot) com or (212) 567-7160.

    * ProvincetownProvincetown

    The gay-owned-and-operated Boston to Provincetown Ride celebrates its 33rd iteration this year; though it clocks in at 127 miles in a single day, the five rest stops and abundant camaraderie make it worth the trip. The Provincetown International Film Festival is in town that weekend, wrapping up Cape Cod’s Gay Pride week, so even if your ride isn't particularly competitive, finding a room will be. In Boston, 40 Berkeley (40berkeley.com), a hostel two blocks from the 6 a.m. start of the ride, will set you back about $100; at our destination, try provincetown.com or vrbo.com and see what you find; campsites are also available. New York riders who want to swap tales of the ride and chow down afterwards head to Napi’s on Freeman Street for a 7 p.m. dinner, and your $ 70 ride registration (www.outriders.org/) includes a ticket to brunch at the Provincetown Inn the morning after the ride. If you need or have a room or a ride to share, contact Bob Nelson at fastnfab (at) gmail (dot) com or text 212-567-7160.

    * Pride BrunchPride Brunch

    Time: 10:00

    Join Phil Greenwald on his Upper West Side patio for brunch at 10 a.m. and then don celebratory parade wear, including Larry Boes’ signature lamé helmet flags, for the Pride March! We’ll chow down and then line up with other hot athletes and hundreds of thousands of utterly fabulous gay folk to have fun in the parade. Some will ride bikes; some will gather around the Fast and Fab banner. All are welcome! Phil plans to provide coffee, waffles, frittata and fruit salad, but we will need sustenance for the day ahead, so please RSVP and let Phil know what you will be bringing at greenwaldp (at) att (dot) net or call him at 212-595-2486. Phil is at 101 West 81st St., Apt. 718; please bring a lock to secure your bike outside, but not to the iron railing at Phil’s building; around the corner on Columbus Ave. is preferable. Happy Pride and see you there!
