* Meals to Wheels: TexmexMeals to Wheels: Texmex

Time: 19:00

Lori Goodman and Carolina Martinez invite all hungry Fast and Fabbers to bike down to the Lower East Side for some great Texmex chow at San Loco Mexico at 111 Stanton Street (Stanton and Ludlow just south of Houston). Pitchers of sangria and margaritas are to be had for thirsty bikers and a vegetarian chili completes the traditional Texmex menu. A great chance to invite folks you think might be interested in joining the club. Remember: we recruit and we ride to eat!

* Alpine HillsAlpine Hills

Time: 10:00

Head over the George Washington Bridge, make a left and head down the paved bike path to River Road, and you could be on another planet, let alone another state. Eight miles of undulating and untrammeled River Road unwind before you, the cliffs of the Palisades on your left and the mighty Hudson on your right. The last hill is a mile and a quarter, eleven percent grade up to the Palisades Park Commission police station in Alpine, N.J., and you’ll swear at your flailing lungs every inch of the way. Robert Sinclair is your guide, but only if the temperatures are above freezing and the roads are clear. He’ll meet the group at the Boathouse in Central Park at 10 a.m. and is planning a B15 pace and one ascent of the long hill up to Alpine; others are, of course, free to torture themselves as many times as they like. Contact Robert if needed at rsinclair (at) gmx (dot) com or 917-579-9018.

* Sweetheart RideSweetheart Ride

Time: 10:00

All those who are sweet on cycling are welcome to join a leisurely 20-mi. Valentine’s ramble through Brooklyn and Queens. Eric Lehman and company will spin over the Manhattan Bridge and wend our way along Williamsburg’s waterfront — making sure to pass the brooding hulk of the erstwhile Domino Sugar Plant, of course! — before we cross the Pulaski Bridge into Queens, heading for a sugary finale at one of the oldest family-owned Italian pastry shops in the city, the venerable La Guli in Astoria. After indulging we’ll work off those calories with a ride back to Manhattan via the Queensborough Bridge. Bring your sweetie — or meet one! We gather at 10 a.m. at East 15th Street and Third Ave. RSVP to Eric at eglehman1@gmail.com

* Bradley-TweedBradley-Tweed

Time: 09:00

Tweed Blvd., high in the hills south of Nyack, has stunning views of the Tappan Zee Bridge, but you have to get to Tweed Blvd. in order to appreciate them, and that will involve a combination of the least gear and the most sweat you can muster. Terry Farrow and Bob Nelson take us up Tweed, down Bradley and along Lake to Rockland Lake, which we loop once on our way back to the Runcible Spoon. Meet at the Boathouse at 9 a.m. or the George Washington Bridge at 10 a.m. Ice, precip or other inauspicious conditions will cancel. Pace is A18 and distance is about 70 hilly miles. Bring all the usual plus lights front and back in case the ride is delayed for flats or mechanicals. RSVP to Bob at fastnfab (at) yahoo (dot) com or 212-567-7160.

* Riverside RideRiverside Ride

Time: 22:00

Richard Brause leads Time's Up!'s monthly Riverside Ride, a welcoming and inclusive evening tour of Central Park and the Hudson River Bike Path that shows the city at its best - by night. Meet at 10pm at the Columbus Circle entrance to Central Park; return to Columbus Circle around 12:30am. Distance? About 12 miles. Weather? We only cancel when no one in their right mind would have fun. Dress for the weather. Snow definitely DOESN'T cancel. This ride is appropriate for cyclists of just about any skill level. We hope these rides encourage folks to enjoy our parks at night, without motor vehicles: quiet, safe, and relaxed. RSVPs? Absurd! But Richard can answer questions: redbike9@yahoo.com

* Croquez Your MadameCroquez Your Madame

Time: 10:00

Meet at the Boathouse in Central Park at 10 a.m. for a couple of easy loops of the park, then head up to Harlem for some coffee and pastries at the sleek, new Patisserie des Ambassades (2200 Frederick Douglass Blvd., northeast corner at 119th St., 212-666-0078, patisseriedesambassades.com). This Senegalese restaurant opens at 11 a.m. and has a full breakfast menu (eggs, omelettes, waffles, kebabs) as well as a pastry menu (croissants, beignets, tartes, éclairs, pain au chocolat); comments on Yelp.com seem to favor the croissant aux amandes, though a New York magazine reviewer recommended the croque madame (grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a fried egg on top) and the merguez sandwich. You’ll need a lock to tie up outside the restaurant; wet pavement cancels. Bob Nelson leads this gustatory expedition; contact him at fastnfab@yahoo.com or 212-567-7160.
